The EDF decommissioning and environmental engineering centre (CIDEN) has awarded the contract to modify the ventilation systems at Chooz A, in the context of the dismantling of this old nuclear power plant, to a consortium comprising SPIE Nucléaire and Cop & Portier, a Belgian civil engineering firm.
Worth a total of €4.7 million including €4.2 million for SPIE Nucléaire, this order calls for competencies in many different fields such as civil engineering, ventilation, electrical engineering, instrumentation and control, fire detection and dismantling, to be implemented within a restricted perimeter and with a tight schedule.
This contract, which promises to be extremely instructive, will enable SPIE Nucléaire to demonstrate its capabilities of managing and performing large-scale, multi-disciplinary contracts.
Studies have already started and work on site is scheduled to begin in early September.
