SPIE Sud-Est has taken over the Jean Polaud company, specialised in exterior work on power and communication networks.
The company is based at Saint-Genix-sur-Guiers, in Savoie, and operates in the Nord-Isère and Savoie areas of France.
It has a workforce of 40 and achieved sales of about €4.2 million in 2006. Exterior work represents more than 85% of its sales, with the remainder of its business being in the commercial sector.
Backed by 50 years experience, the company has proven expertise in all field of external work, including overhead and buried power lines, public lighting, and roads and utility networks. It has an excellent reputation with its regular regional customers, including EDF GDF Services, rural electricity boards, local authorities and private developers.
This acquisition will strengthen the position of SPIE Sud-Est as a contractor for exterior work in the Nord-Dauphiné area of France, adding to its existing facilities in the Alps.
Since 1st January, the SPIE Group has acquired four new companies with a combined workforce of 660 and sales totalling €83.5 million. These acquisitions have reinforced the Group's network of local services (Jean Polaud, Mouillot & Cie in France and Controlec in the Netherlands) and brought in new technical competencies (Gemco International).
