SPIE Sud-Ouest acquires SOMTI

SPIE Sud-Ouest, a subsidiary of SPIE SA, has strengthened its machine-tool maintenance business by acquiring SOMTI, a Toulouse-based company.
SOMTI, which was created in 1990, provides its services to industrial customers in the aviation, mechanical engineering and electronics sectors and to technical training centres in the Toulouse region.
The company's 14 employees - experts in industrial machine-tool maintenance, reconditioning and retrofitting(*) - are joining the industrial maintenance team at SPIE Sud-Ouest's Aeronautics department.
SOMTI reported sales of €1 million in 2006.
(*) Retrofit: Renovation involving a technological upgrade to an old machine, and where applicable, work to make it compliant with current standards.
