Transport - SYTRAL awards two contracts to SPIE Sud-Est

SYSTRAL, the joint Rhône and Lyon city transport authority (Syndicat Mixte des Transports pour le Rhône et l'Agglomération Lyonnaise) has entrusted SPIE Sud-Est's Information System and Transport operations department with two big contracts.

  • The first is for audio and video transmission equipment for the new TR4 tram line which is to come into service in spring 2009. Line T4 will be 10 km long and will serve 18 stations between Vénissieux (Cliniques Feyzin) and Jet d'Eau Mendès France (junction T2).

The services are to be provided include:
- infrastructure for the communication network (fibre-optics and active equipment),
- video surveillance,
- telephony and interphone systems, 
- PA systems at stations,
- distribution cabinets for LV power in stations and low-current systems.

This contract is being performed by a consortium with ROIRET, a Lyon-based company, under the leadership of SPIE Sud-Est.
The contract is worth a total of €2 million, with SPIE's share amounting to €1.3 million.
The work is to be completed by March 2009.

  • The second contract concerns the renewal of the telephony system used by the Lyon urban transport network, TCL(*), which will migrate to an IP digital network. The following services will be provided:
    - study and creation of an optical infrastructure,
    - installation of network and telephone equipment while in service,
    - Y connection and switching of telephone lines.

This contract has been entrusted to a consortium comprising NextiraOne, SPIE Sud-Est and ROIRET.
It is worth a total of €2.2 million, including €400,000 for SPIE.
The work is due for completion by March 2008.

(*) TCL (Transports en Communs Lyonnais) is the trademark of the Lyon urban area transport network, which is owned by SYTRAL.
