Vacances Bleues reinforces its network security with SPIE Communications

2007/02/02

Based in Marseille, Vacances Bleues runs 30 holiday villages and clubs in France and has a workforce of 800.

In December 2005, this firm entrusted SPIE Communications with the tasks of installing its security system, maintaining it in operational condition and upgrading it.

As security is a vital requirement to the firm's business, the Vacances Bleues general management and data processing department decided to:

  • protect all its servers including those dedicated to production, i.e. its reservations service,
  • guarantee optimal availability to avoid any break in service,
  • implement secure remote access for the company management.

As a result, SPIE Communications has now been asked to reinforce the security of the holiday village network comprising 275 workstations and 40 servers scattered over 31 different sites.

SPIE Communications recommended the Netasq F800 appliance and the interconnection of remote sites, using a firewall to ensure the security and encryption of the data on each site, along with the following services:

  • assistance in defining the security policy to be implemented,
  • setting parameters for flow management and gateway anti-virus,
  • operation of the reservations call centre outside office hours,
  • installation of Netasq supervision solutions,
  • transfer of expertise,
  • submission of a report on the scheduling implemented.

The solution recommended by SPIE Communications provides Vacances Bleues with secure servers, automatic redundancy in case of failure and short repair time to replace the firewall in case of failure. This solution therefore ensures complete control of the risks of business interruptions.

The solution and services proposed by SPIE Communications and its commitment were key criteria in the choices made by Vacances Bleues which has placed the security and performance of its information systems entirely in the hands of SPIE Communications.
