SPIE Nucléaire obtains a new AFD contract from EDF in Normandy

2008/02/15

The Nord office of the Production d'Electricité Nord entity participated in the call for tenders for the maintenance of automatic fire detection systems (AFD) at four nuclear power plants at Gravelines, Penly, Paluel and Flamanville on the northern coast of France.

The competition for this contract included the major companies in the sector.

EDF's north-west regional production purchases branch has now entrusted AFD maintenance on the Penly, Paluel and Flamanville sites to SPIE Nucléaire. This contract, requiring guaranteed results, is worth a total of about €2 million and covers a five-year period (from 2008 to 2012).

As the reliability of AFD systems is of vital importance for nuclear plants, these services are core to a major programme to keep production facilities in operation and so help EDF achieve its goal of reducing the number of corrective maintenance actions performed from year to year.

This objective will require total commitment on the part of our technicians in conducting their preventive maintenance programme.
