SPIE takes part in the construction of one of the largest onshore wind farms in the Netherlands

2011/11/07

Through its subsidiary SPIE Nederland, SPIE takes part in the construction of one of the largest onshore wind farms in the Netherlands.

Breda, November 7 - The consortium Ventus Zeewolde, consisting of the companies SPIE Nederland B.V., CG and Dura Vermeer B.V. won the contract for the "Balance of Plant" for one of the biggest wind farm projects in the Netherlands.

The Wind farm is located in the south of Flevoland. The wind farm will contain 36 Wind Turbine Generators and foundations, the electrical wind farm infrastructure, access roads, crane foundations and a 150kV substation. Export cables from the substation will connect the wind farm to the 150kV TenneT grid. The total capacity of the wind farm will be 122 MW.

SPIE Nederland will design and construct the new to be built substation, all digging and cable works and the necessary low and medium voltage cable connections. The 36 foundations for the wind mills are not part of this contract. Those will be subcontracted by the supplier of the wind mills. A combination of SPIE and Dura Vermeer made a special design and price and is still negotiating with the supplier of the windturbines to win this contract.
