BMW and SPIE extend agreement on the Innovation Park Wackersdorf

- BMW continues to entrust SPIE with the facility management of the Innovation Park Wackersdorf

 

- SPIE has been the technical service provider on the site since 2001 and has won the tender for the fourth time in a row

 

- The current contract took effect on 1st July 2018 and runs for three years with an option to extend by two more years

 

Wackersdorf, July 31st, 2018 – BMW and SPIE continue their collaboration at the Innovation Park Wackersdorf. After a new call for tenders, BMW – the operator of the site and largest employer in the region – extended the contract with the multi-technology services provider for the technical facility management. The contract took effect on 1st July 2018 for a period of three years – with the option to extend by two more years. BMW’s production includes cockpits and elements of the interior fittings of vehicles; it also controls the material supply to BMW factories located abroad. There are other companies at the Innovation Park, among them BMW suppliers.

Successful cooperation for the past 17 years

BMW and SPIE have been collaborating on the 55 hectare industrial, commercial and logistics site since 2001. About 3,000 people handle the manufacture and shipping of parts for the automotive industry. The SPIE team looks after the on-site technical, commercial and infrastructural building management. As part of the energy management, the team regularly reviews the energy values and can directly intervene in the event of any issues. Renovations of existing buildings and maintenance of the HVAC systems are also part of SPIE’s responsibilities. The team is also on call 24/7 to ensure system availability.

Joint projects as a basis for something new

As the existing provider, SPIE knows the Innovation Park Wackersdorf very well. ‘Our collaboration there dates back 17 years,’ says Michael Ziegler, Project Manager for BMW at the Innovation Park Wackersdorf, ‘and we look forward to supporting BMW in future to implement new ideas and innovative maintenance approaches in technical facility management.
