SPIE Belgium handles all technical services including sanitary facilities, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and electricity for the future prison in Leuze-en-Hainaut.
Sanitary facilities include the water supply and sewage network, as well as all on-site sanitary equipment. On-site technical challenges include maintaining water supply during construction, while reducing and limiting consumption. To improve energy efficiency, a rainwater recovery network will be used to supply water for the toilet system.
The heating infrastructure includes condensation boilers as well as extra heat pumps for a total power of 1.5 MW. In each building, SPIE will also handle the central air conditioning and refrigeration systems, ventilation groups with heat recovery units, as well as smoke ventilation for cells. A co-generator will supply energy for the entire infrastructure. This system was designed to comply with PEB energy performance standards and BREEAM.
In addition to electricity supply, lighting and fire alarms, the security portion of the contract includes services such as video equipment, intercoms, systems for opening and closing doors, and more generally, access control for all buildings.
