SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, has closed the acquisition of Alewijnse Retail, a key player in the Dutch retail installation market. Following the acquisitions of the Aaftink group of companies and Ad Bouman, this acquisition allows SPIE to consolidate its position among the top three players in the Dutch retail installation market.

Based in Zaltbommel, Alewijnse Retail employs 20 people and generated revenue of approximately €6 million in 2016. The company specialises in the design and implementation of retail modification plans as well as maintenance management, and closely cooperates with its customers to develop tailor-made solutions. In October 2016, SPIE already acquired a business unit of the Alewijnse Group (Alewijnse Technisch Beheer), specialized in technical management of building-related installations.

This new acquisition will enable SPIE Nederland’s e-fficient buildings division to expand its position to food retail, thereby providing complete coverage of the retail market.

Lieve Declercq, Managing Director of SPIE Nederland, commented: “The acquisition of Alewijnse Retail will enable SPIE to offer a complete and nationwide range of multi-technical services to supermarkets, retail chains, department stores, etc. This range of services goes beyond electrotechnical and mechanical installations, since telecom and network management are also part of our spectrum. With our vision of the building of the future, we can play an active role in helping our customers achieve their sustainability ambitions.”
