SPIE acquires Mer ICT and expands its ICT capabilities in the Netherlands

Breda, the Netherlands, May 10th, 2017 – SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, has completed today the acquisition of Mer ICT. Based in the Netherlands, Mer ICT provides integrated communication solutions. This acquisition allows SPIE to expand its service range with unified communications and collaboration in the Netherlands, and creates significant cross-selling opportunities.

Based in Zwolle, Mer ICT employs 20 people and generated revenue of €4 million in 2016. The business model of Mer ICT, including technical capabilities related to business communication delivered as a service, fits well with SPIE’s approach, aimed at unburdening its customers as much as possible. The acquisition of Mer ICT will allow SPIE Nederland to expand its current portfolio of services with regards to workspace, mobile device management and ICT management. It will include as well market business telephony, connections and infrastructure, solutions for domotics in the healthcare sector and so-called collaboration applications. This acquisition further strengthens SPIE Nederland’s position in the public sector, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing and commercial services.

Lei Ummels, SPIE Nederland’s Managing Director, declared: “Mer ICT is a great addition to our ICT operations. It has a complementary customer portfolio that will help SPIE gain new grounds. We are now a lot stronger in the market for both cloud workspace and cloud voice solutions.”
