- SPIE has installed the electrotechnical infrastructure in a new building of a private medical office in Montabaur. The state-of-the-art building technology meets the severe hygiene standards applied in clinics.
- In order to comply with legal requirements, SPIE installed a battery-operated power supply system in the operating theatres, among other rooms.
- Ten years ago, the multi-technical service provider had already equipped the client's previous practice with electrical technology
Montabaur, 22 August 2019 – SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, has planned and installed the complete electrotechnical infrastructure for the new outpatient operating centre of Dr. Michael Wiesend in Montabaur. The private medical practice opened in summer 2018. The electrical installations in the office units of the building were completed in the first quarter of 2019.
Extensive services in the field of electrical technology
Offices, eight treatment rooms and two operating theatres were built on more than 2,000 square metres. These turn the private specialist practice for oral and maxillofacial surgery into an outpatient operating centre, of course with the highest hygiene requirements. SPIE supported the planning of the entire electrical engineering and carried out the basic installations for lighting and power supply. In addition, the multi-technical service provider installed the fire and burglar alarm system, the PA and nurse-call system as well as the EDP / network technology. The specialist practice is located in a new building, which is also called the "Blue Tower Montabaur", due to the striking tower in the middle of the building. As a day clinic, the operating theatres are also rented out to other doctors of all specialties.
Compliance with legal requirements
According to the DIN 1946-4 standard, healthcare rooms are divided into room classes 1 and 2. Subcategories 1a and 1b include operating theatres, while class 2 applies to the other operating department and examination rooms.
The operating theatres in Blue Tower Montabaur belong to room class 1a. Ventilation systems, for example, must meet hygiene requirements during planning, construction, acceptance and operation that are otherwise only common in clinics. Of course, all other regulations, for example on energy supply, are also complied with. "In the event of a power failure, an uninterruptible power supply for the operating theatres of the practice, including the medical equipment, must be guaranteed for at least three hours," explains Michael Wirths, Project Manager at SPIE. "We have installed a battery-supported central power supply system (BSV system), which guarantees the continued supply of energy in the event of a failure or interruption of the general power grid."
Good cooperation as a success factor
About ten years ago, SPIE equipped the former practice of Dr. Wiesend at the Montabaur Hospital with electrical equipment for the first time. “We are pleased that the customer was so satisfied at the time that he commissioned us again,” says Wirths. A further success factor was the good cooperation between SPIE, the external companies and subcontractors. Wirths reports: “We often work together with some of these companies and are already well coordinated. This makes the work easier and helps to carry out the project successfully”.
