Illkirch, March 26th, 2018 – SPIE Est has just been awarded the contract for the electrical installations, HVAC (Heating - Ventilation - Air Conditioning) and sanitary plumbing for the service sector hub for the Viotte eco-district in Besançon by the property developer Sedia. It’s a flagship project in the Bourgogne Franche-Comté region, aimed at developing a real railway station neighbourhood at Besançon, combining the main urban functions for housing accommodation, work and transport.
Launched in 2013, the eco-district project at the Viotte site concentrates major developments around the city’s railway station. This operation to redevelop railway wasteland either side of the cluster of tracks is designed to reinvigorate the centre of the conglomeration and develop a strategic services hub, connected to the high-speed rail lines.
As part of this development, SPIE Est has just been awarded the contract for 3 batches of technical missions on the first two buildings at the services hub. These buildings are designed to accommodate mainly offices, covering a surface area of 23,415m² and 1,359m² of retail space. There will also be 1,154m² designed to build 11 residential units and 701 m2 for a shared staff canteen for local companies.
The contract won by SPIE Est is worth €7.3 million and includes, in particular:
- the HVAC installations, including a 500 KW wood-fired boiler, two 700 KW gas boilers, 5 dual flow thermodynamic air handling units,
- “high current” electrical installations, including 4 high voltage substations, 3 high and low voltage 800 KVA transformers, lighting with around 3,500 light sources,
- “low current” electrical installations, including the fire safety system and automatic sprinkler system, the VDI network (Voice, Data, Images), a combined videophone and intercom-based access control system,
- installation of sanitary plumbing
The contract awarded to SPIE also includes Technical Building Management. This must lead to optimum energy consumption during the operational phase, with a view to obtaining HQE® certification as a services building distinguished for its high environmental quality. The eco-district project is, in fact, part of a “green economy” approach, ensuring the best energy and environmental performance.
Around 30 people from SPIE Est’s Climate Engineering and Service Industry Operations Directions will be deployed on these operations for a period of 24 months, due to start in April 2018.
“We are pleased to be contributing to a large-scale project for Besançon. This €7.3 million contract is a great collaborative achievement, relying on a local market approach”, says SPIE Est Operations Director, Patrick Allouchery. “Our ability to combine all of SPIE’s core businesses in a single proposition to present a fully controlled range of services was a decisive factor when Sedia made its choice”.
