SPIE's expertise in utility networks and street-lighting has a number of applications in the area of urban policy development, including improving how public spaces are managed, illuminating heritage sites to best effect, reducing energy consumption, enhancing urban safety, preserving existing infrastructure and interconnecting council departments and other authorities.

SPIE mobilises its forces in response to Winter Storm Klaus
When Winter Storm Klaus devastated south-west France in early 2009, leaving thousands of homes without electricity, SPIE employees all over the country were mobilised to strengthen ERDF's teams in the field. Almost 300 SPIE employees took part in this operation, carrying out 45,000 man-hours of work.
