Essen, October 11th, 2016 - Benecke-Kaliko AG, manufacturer of technical and decorative surface materials for the automotive industry within the Continental group, will continue its cooperation with SPIE Energy Solutions GmbH, a subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, at the firm’s Eislingen factory. SPIE has been operating and optimising the factory supply systems for heating, cooling, water and compressed air since 2005. The contract has now been extended for a further 10 years and includes additional services.
The most significant addition to the contract is that SPIE will now also oversee energy consumption in production processes at the Eislingen plant. A further novelty is the “energy team” in which SPIE specialists from various fields join forces with experts from Benecke-Kaliko, creating an even broader and more effective network of expertise.
The decision to extend the contract is based on the successful cooperation over the last ten years. “With SPIE’s help, we have cut energy costs and emissions while increasing supply security and availability,” says Andreas Feger, Technical Director at Benecke-Kaliko. Specifically, the measures implemented by SPIE have reduced carbon emissions by over 24 percent.
SPIE’s underlying concept included the construction of a new power station with a boiler house for steam production and a cooling station for the supply of cooling water. The existing exhaust air purification system was replaced with a regenerative thermal oxidiser (RTO). SPIE also modernised sections of the pipelines supplying the plant and implemented a new control system.
