Brussels, 16 November 2013 - SPIE will be the exclusive partner for BMW and The Mobility House in Belgium and Luxembourg for the installation of BMW i3 recharging terminals for private customers. An important agreement for the Belgian subsidiary of the SPIE group, which once again illustrates its expertise in electrical installation techniques in Europe.
BMW and the international mobility services provider, The Mobility House, have chosen SPIE as their partner to install the BMW i Wallbox, the recharging terminal enabling individuals to recharge their BMW i3 at home. The advantage for the owners of this BMW i Wallbox resides in the fact that their car can be recharged up to 60% faster, i.e. in 6 hours.
An installation team will visit all new owners to see if the location chosen for the BMW i Wallbox (in the house, in the garage, on an outside wall etc.) is suitable from a technical point of view. Actual installation takes only a half a day.
For its part, the sustainable energy supplier ENECO will soon be equipping its employees with electric company cars, also BMW i3s. Again, it will be SPIE Belgium which will install the recharging terminals. In addition, a smart meter will be fitted in these people's homes so that they can measure the energy needed for recharging their car. This should be for around 300 installations per year.
Johan Dekempe, CEO of SPIE Belgium is satisfied: "This is a significant order for SPIE Belgium. Not simply from an economic point of view, but also because it is a recognition of our commitment and our initiatives in the area of sustainable development. It is also a very good illustration of our expertise in respect of cutting-edge electrical installation techniques."
