Wind

Wind power presents an abundant, inexhaustible and zero-emission source of energy.

Harnessing the power of wind

A renewable power source generated by the conversion of kinetic energy into electricity, wind power is playing a significant role in the European Union’s goals for a carbon-neutral future. With extensive technical and engineering expertise in wind projects both on land and offshore, SPIE is a partner of choice for wind farm customers looking to build, expand or manage infrastructure.

SPIE has solutions for every step of the wind power production process:

  • Onshore and offshore wind farms: installation and maintenance of wind turbines and associated infrastructure
  • Electrical grid connections: substations, transformer stations
  • Operational management: test benches, energy management services

With offers along the entire wind energy value chain, SPIE directly contributes to expanding wind power production and to bringing the dream of a carbon-neutral Europe within reach.

SPIE helps for carrying offshore wind energy onto land

SPIE Belgium was tasked by Elia, Belgium’s high voltage electricity transmission system operator, to produce two 380 kV high-voltage substations: “Van Maerlant” at Damme and “Gezelle” at Dudzele, within the framework of Elia’s Stevin programme, which is aimed notably at piping energy produced by offshore wind farms inland.

These schemes follow on from the work on producing and installing the Horta high-voltage substation, delivered by SPIE Belgium in May 2015.
