Erlangen, 1 March 2021SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, and Atos in Germany are extending their existing collaboration by another four and a half years. Extensive expertise in the area of data centre infrastructure and an experienced team on the ground once again proved to be a persuasive combination for SPIE. This contract’s extension confirms Atos’ trust in the performance and competence of the multi-technical service provider. Atos is a world-leading service provider for the digital transformation and, as the European market leader in cloud, cybersecurity and high-performance computing, it offers holistic solutions for orchestrated hybrid cloud, big data, business applications and digital workplaces.

Comprehensive service provision

On behalf of Atos, SPIE performs services in the area of technical facility management as well as data centre maintenance at the Fürth, Nuremberg and Munich locations. In this connection, the multi-technical service provider takes care of all the building management technology, building services and heating and air conditioning systems. The teams also ensure that there are no interruptions in the supply of power, emergency power and cooling. Besides maintaining, inspecting and repairing the building’s technical infrastructure in the data centre and office areas for Atos, SPIE is also responsible for all data cabling and documentation of the server structure. The multi-technical service provider also takes in charge the services related to core processes in the data centres. “SPIE provides all the services needed for a data centre – regardless of what stage of life it is in. At the same time, it should be noted that a data centre is far more sensitive than an office building or a logistics warehouse, for example. A high degree of reliability, security and availability is required. That is the foundation of our long-standing collaboration,” reported Holger Kutz, Branch Manager in SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa’s Efficient Facilities operational division. An experienced team of more than ten employees ensures that the systems are reliably available around the clock, 365 days a year. SPIE also provides its customer with comprehensive advice on energy-efficiency measures and implements this accordingly.

Successful cooperation for over 13 years

SPIE and Atos have enjoyed a trusting business relationship over many years. The two companies have been working together as partners in a highly complex environment since 2007. As the existing service provider, SPIE is very familiar with the high technical requirements – especially in the area of data centres. “We have been working together for over 13 years. Thanks to the wide range of tasks that we are able to handle ourselves, we have become a strong and reliable partner for Atos,” said Holger Kutz. “It fills us with pride that Atos has expressed its trust in us once again. We are very much looking forward to continuing our cooperation in fulfilling this highly technically demanding order.”
