The progressive digitalisation of a company with a human approach

Brussels, February 1st, 2018 – SPIE Belgium, a subsidiary of the SPIE Group, an independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, has just been announced as ‘Top Employer Belgium’ for the eleventh time. Recognition this year is for its many digitalisation initiatives in particular.

SPIE Belgium is delighted to announce that, after a rigorous selection procedure, it has been accredited as ‘Top Employer Belgium’ by the Top Employers Institute, in recognition of its many initiatives on behalf of its employees in the past year. This accreditation is bestowed on companies that offer a top-notch working environment, promote skills development at all levels, and have an ongoing commitment to improving their HR practices.

SPIE Belgium responded positively to the strict selection criteria of the Top Employers Institute, and this year stood out by emphasising the numerous digitalisation actions it has undertaken. The past year, in fact, saw the introduction of new versatile digital tools, aimed at facilitating and optimising the integration of new staff members, mobility within the company, employee evaluation, skill management and reporting. Such tools will enable Human Resources managers to devote more of their time to person to person relations.

In parallel, in 2017 SPIE Belgium stepped up its public-spirited approach and assumed greater social responsibility by making diversity one of its priorities. All such approaches aimed primarily to achieve a better male/female gender mix, enhanced employment opportunities for workers with disabilities, a more uniform spread of generations throughout the organisation, and greater origin diversity. In 2018, SPIE is set to complete yet a further phase by putting in place throughout its subsidiaries a ‘diversity action plan’, in collaboration with Actiris.

Jean-Pierre Martin, Human Resources Director at SPIE Belgium, stated on this subject: ‘We are thrilled to once again be part of the exclusive circle of companies that have been awarded the ‘Top Employer Belgium 2018’ accreditation and to receive recognition for the excellent working conditions we provide for our employees. This accreditation is a welcome acknowledgement of the measures we have implemented over the year as a whole, as we seek to create a working environment for our employees that is at once modern and of high quality, thereby achieving digitalisation of the company with a human approach.

It comes as no surprise to me that SPIE should have received such recognition. When I look back on my own career at SPIE, the opportunities and training I have been given, and the way in which I have been able to progress from welder to site manager, I feel it perfectly natural that SPIE should be accredited as Top Employer!’ commented David Buijsse, Industry Division site manager, Grobbendonk.
