Saint-Ouen, 31 March 2026 – SPIE CityNetworks, a French subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, is rolling out its e-Vadea Truck network across APRR (Autoroutes Paris-Rhin-Rhône) service stations in partnership with the FLASH investment platform. Seven high-power charging stations, specifically designed for electric heavy goods vehicles, are joining the existing e-Vadea network installed at APRR service stations. This network, the largest belonging to a single operator on French motorways, is therefore adapting to meet the demands of long-distance haulage and taking a decisive step towards the low-carbon transition of road transport.
A key step in the low-carbon transition of road transport
In response to the acceleration of the electric heavy goods vehicle market, SPIE CityNetworks has joined forces with the FLASH investment platform to offer a solution designed to meet the operational needs of hauliers while also incorporating the legislation governing driving hours and breaks for drivers. More specifically, drivers can use their mandatory downtime to recharge their vehicles and gain around 300 km of range, even during the shortest breaks. Real-world driving habits of heavy goods vehicle drivers and the operating constraints of hauliers have been studied with a view to providing them with a tailored solution.
A high-performance turnkey solution tailored to the limitations faced by transport professionals
The new e-Vadea stations for heavy goods vehicles each offer a minimum of four extendible charging points with evolutive charging capacity of 400 kW to 1.2 MW, guaranteeing compatibility with the entire fleet of current and future heavy goods vehicles, particularly with regard to their charging connectors (*) and batteries.
SPIE CityNetworks is also rolling out a dedicated e-Vadea Truck mobile app to streamline the charging experience. The app's multilingual interface guides drivers to stations and offers secure access to the areas and charging points. Charging spots can also be reserved using the app, which really benefits drivers as it gives them peace of mind and lets them coordinate time spent resting and time spent charging their vehicles.
Lastly, in order to meet hauliers' needs, the service stations offer flexible payment methods: bank card, e-Vadea Truck mobile app and eMSP (e-Mobility Service Provider) charge card to cater to the solutions made available to drivers by logistics companies.
"A pioneer in this area, APRR-AREA is the first motorway network to have its service stops fully equipped with electric charging stations for light vehicles. This partnership with SPIE CityNetworks strengthens the existing charging network for heavy goods vehicles, already in operation since 2023 between Paris and Lyon, with seven additional stations. This partnership is accelerating the installation of high-performance technologies across the network to give everyone peace of mind when planning long journeys. It is another step towards a decarbonised motorway," explains Guillaume Hérent, Managing Director of APRR-AREA.
e-Vadea extends its network to heavy goods vehicles in preparation for the future of haulage
With these seven new charging stations, SPIE CityNetworks is cementing its position on the ultra-fast motorway charging market. The e-Vadea network is the seventh best motorway charging network in France according to Chargemap 2026, placing the company among the top players in the electric mobility sector.
The APRR roll-out illustrates the ability of SPIE CityNetworks to design charging infrastructures that are tailored to the specific limitations of each mobility segment, whether it be private cars or utility vehicles and heavy goods vehicles.
The charging stations will be installed at the following service stations: Dijon Brognon (A31) direction Beaune/Toul and Toul/Beaune, Besançon Champoux (A36), Besançon Marchaux (A36), Sandaucourt les Rappes (A31), Bourg Teyssonge (A40) and Chien Blanc (A6).
"The transportation of goods by road is entering an electrification phase similar to that seen with light vehicles. Technological advances around the range offered by batteries and charging times, as well as the network of charging stations, are paving the way for long-distance haulage using electric vehicles. With e-Vadea Truck, SPIE CityNetworks is putting its experience and skills to good use in offering a turnkey solution to hauliers and contributing to the adoption of electric heavy goods vehicles on key motorway routes, thereby taking a decisive step towards the decarbonisation of the transport sector," states Marie-Pierre Maccario, Director of the e-Vadea project at SPIE CityNetworks.
"The launch of the e-Vadea Truck network is an important step in the expansion of the e-Vadea charging network infrastructures that we are developing together with SPIE CityNetworks, which, until now, were only able to offer charging for light vehicles. We are certain that these charging stations will contribute to the acceleration of the adoption of electric heavy goods vehicles for long-distance transport," declares Frédéric Gilbert, Partner at Demea Sustainable Investment, speaking on behalf of the FLASH platform.
