Stuttgart, 12 June 2020 – SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, supplies the entire building complex of SI-Erlebnis-Centrum Stuttgart with energy and clean water as part of an energy supply contract signed in 2004. Since 2018, SPIE has already been responsible for the technical facility management of the leisure and entertainment centre. Thus, SPIE offers the client full-service contract with a single source for all building engineering services.
Energy efficiency and hence less CO2 emission through full service contracting
SPIE supplies SI-Erlebnis-Centrum under an energy supply contract with the heating, cooling, electricity and drinking water utilities and is responsible for the technical management of the buildings in the general areas of the complex. “We continually optimise the facility engineering of the SI centre. Our decades-long energy expertise and our employees’ engineering knowledge in technical facility management offers many advantages to our clients. We continually perform efficiency analyses and identify potential savings. We develop concepts, plan measures and conduct them in order to operate all installations as efficiently as possible”, says Hans Loest, Spokesman of the Management Board in the Business Unit Energy Solutions of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa. “In this way, with our services, we optimise the CO2 balance of the entertainment centre, as the most climate-friendly energy is the one that is not even used”, adds Hans Loest.
Energy saving guarantee through energy supply contracting
Through these energy-efficient measures, SPIE reduces CO2 emissions and achieves considerable savings: on average more than two million euros per year are saved and around 2,500 tons of CO2 emissions per year are avoided. “This success is also reflected in our customer satisfaction, and we are proud that the current contract between SPIE and SI-Erlebnis-Centrum has been extended for a further ten years in 2016”, says Hartmut Kogel, Head of Operations South in the Business Unit Energy Solutions of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa. As part of the SI-Erlebnis-Centrum entertainment centre optimisation, the SPIE refurbished two cooling plants and fitted them with new, highly efficient mechanical engineering. “The utilities are invoiced legally, transparently and fairly according to consumption via more than 350 calibrated gauges directly with the respective users”, added Hartmut Kogel.
Round-the-clock technical facility management
In 2018, following a call for tenders, the representative of the owner of SI-Erlebnis-Centrum, Brookfield Properties, also entrusted SPIE with the technical facility management of the leisure complex. Since then the multi-technical service provider operates all building engineering installations for the general areas of the entertainment centre, like the air conditioning, fire alarm and sprinklers systems or escape doors. “We are also renewing the facility management technology, organising the necessary and statutory inspections, supervising fire protection inspections and providing 24-hour on-call service as well as failure management”, says Hartmut Kogel. “We know perfectly well our installations and the coordination channels within our team are short, so we are able to implement corresponding measures flexibly and quickly – in order to, for instance, generate further savings or to promptly respond to user requirements”, adds Hartmut Kogel.
