Germany: SPIE management system undergoes cross-standard audit and receives additional certificate for compliance management system

Published on 29 February 2024

Ratingen, 29 February 2024SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, confirms the company's high process quality and the sustainable integration of acquisitions with the successful cross-company and cross-standard audit by the independent certification company TÜV NORD CERT in 2023. The surveillance audit certified that the existing certificates of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa are valid until September 2025. Eight new acquisitions were also successfully certified for the first time as part of the multi-technical service provider's growth strategy.

The existing SPIE management system was expanded to include the standard DIN ISO 37301. The compliance management system of the multi-technical service provider was audited by TÜV for the first time based on this standard, and it was one of the first companies in Germany to receive a corresponding certificate confirming that SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa complies with the appropriate values and legal regulations.

Successfully certified according to the standard DIN ISO 37301

In line with SPIE's values of performance, customer focus and responsibility, the company is committed to the highest standards of ethics and integrity. The successful certification of the compliance management system certifies that the multi-technical service provider has suitable processes in place to ensure that actions are in accordance with the appropriate values and legal regulations. "Our aim is not just to ensure that our processes comply with the applicable laws and regulations. We also want to further strengthen and sustain the trust of our stakeholders and to successfully implement our CSR roadmap in addition. In the 2023 customer satisfaction survey, our customers told us how much they value SPIE's commitment to CSR. For me, certification in accordance with the standard DIN ISO 37301 is a logical step towards further assuming social responsibility," says Markus Holzke, Managing Director  of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa.

The certification helps SPIE to fulfil increasing customer requirements in the area of compliance and to demonstrate their implementation simply and efficiently. Legislation, such as the German Act on Corporate Due Diligence Obligations in Supply Chains (LkSG) or the Sapin II law on transparency and anti-corruption in French companies, is also placing ever greater demands on the compliance organisation.

"With the implementation and further development of a certified compliance management system at SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa, we are all making an important contribution to the sustainable economic success of the company and to the containment of risks. SPIE's ethical principles are an essential cornerstone of our corporate culture. With the certification, we promote external visibility and support our business activities," says Andreas Frey, Head of Governance and Compliance Officer at SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa.

To date, the headquarters of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa and SPIE Dürr Austria have been audited and certified in accordance with the standard DIN ISO 37301 by the independent certification organisation TÜV NORD CERT. Further units will follow. The certified compliance standard expands the existing management system at SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa.

Matrix audit completed without deviations

With the matrix audit in 2023, it was also certified for all companies of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa with over 18,000 employees that standardised business processes are defined in the management system and are put into practice across the board. TÜV NORD CERT also confirmed the multi-technical service provider's successful integration of acquired companies through matrix certification in accordance with the standards DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 (Quality management systems), DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental management systems), DIN EN 50001:2011 (Energy management systems) and DIN EN ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational health and safety management systems). The successfully certified acquisitions are SPIE Dürr, SPIE Dürr Austria, SPIE KEM, Planen & Bauen, SPIE Stangl Technik (Poland and Czech Republic), SPIE Wiegel and SPIE WirliebenKabel.

The SPIE management system was audited without any deviations. "Our customers and TÜV confirm a continuous improvement process in all companies of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa. We owe this to a standardised management system, which is the basis for a very sustainable internal audit management and feedback system in all processes," says Marc Kämper, management system Representative of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa and responsible for customer satisfaction surveys.
