New maintenance contract after three years of partnership

Rotterdam, November 4, 2019 – SPIE, the independent European leader for multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, will take part in the maintenance of the Hexion petrochemical plant located in Pernis, near Rotterdam, for at least the next three years. SPIE Nederland will be responsible for the turnarounds, projects and part of the maintenance of the installations.

The Pernis petrochemical plant represents one of Hexion’s largest production sites. Although SPIE and Hexion have been partners for three years, this collaboration has been strengthened with this new maintenance contract. Recognized for the skills and flexibility of its workers, SPIE Nederland was commissioned last year to carry out a turnaround of the plant. The new partnership has been concluded for three years with twice the option of an extra year. The Engineering, E&I and Mechanical business units of SPIE Nederland, all three located in Schiedam, will work together on this contract.

Dennis Vrijenhoek, Business development manager at SPIE Nederland, is proud of the renewed collaboration: “Our local presence, the quality of our people and our joint vision of making our living environment better, safer and cleaner, make SPIE a suitable partner for Hexion. That’s why we have been able to take responsibility for this part of the maintenance as a single source.

The Manager of Projects and Contract Manager of Hexion, Bas Duchenne, shares this pride: "In the past, SPIE has provided added value for our production site by supporting our Maintenance, Projects and Turnarounds departments. The renewed collaboration has gone well from the start, which has immediately resulted in great results within these departments. Together with the craftsmanship, commitment and expertise, we are confident that we have selected the right partner who will contribute to our safety, quality and high-performance teamwork objectives''.
