SPIE and Interxion continue their successful cooperation with the implementation of the new “FRA16” data centre

Frankfurt am Main, 24 November 2020 SPIE, the independent European market leader for multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, and Interxion: A Digital Realty Company, a leading provider of cloud and carrier-neutral data centre services, are continuing their partnership that dates back to 2002. As the technical general contractor, SPIE is responsible for the complete implementation of the new “FRA16” data centre project in Frankfurt am Main. With the implementation of the 16th data centre on its data centre campus in the Ostend district of Frankfurt, Interxion is creating further room for digital growth.

Comprehensive service provision

After fitting out FRA6 to FRA10 and FRA14 data centre, SPIE is now also responsible for the planning and implementation of the new FRA16 data centre. The scope of services ordered comprises the planning and execution of all technical finishing jobs, including the infrastructural interfaces. In particular, this encompasses the electrical equipment for the energy and building management technology, the cooling systems, all ventilation and air-conditioning systems and the sanitary installations, as well as all security technology, access controls, lock systems, alarm and surveillance systems and fire-extinguishing systems. “Our team will carry out all the important works from October 2021 onwards and the integrated transformer station will be completed by April 2022. Thanks to our technical versatility and high degree of expertise across all key trades, we are able to provide the services for our customer in their entirety,” reported Paula Guesnet, Head of the Data Competence Center department at SPIE.

Broad competency for complete implementation

In addition to the data centre space, the new transformer station will be set up in the same property. Here, Interxion will benefit from the all-encompassing expertise of the multi-technical service provider: “It is important to us to have a partner by our side that we can rely on. With digitalisation and virtualisation, the requirements concerning data centres and their operators are changing radically.
