SPIE boosts its offer in automation, robotics and manufacturing process with the integration of Cimlec Industrie

Paris, September 3, 2019 The Industrie division of SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire, a subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, is now integrating Cimlec Industrie S.A.S. and its subsidiaries (Cimlec), a key player renowned for its expertise in automation, robotics and the manufacturing process optimisation. The acquisition of Cimlec is an additional asset for the Industrie division to position as an integrator of smart & agile solutions.

A strategic acquisition in the era of industry 4.0

Acquired on the 8th of July by SPIE from the French Gorgé Group, Cimlec is the key partner for manufacturers in the design, construction and maintenance of installations in the fields of electricity, automation and industrial robotics. Its core business activities are the automotive industry, logistics, transport, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and energy. In 2018, the company employed more than 300 people, located in 6 sites throughout France: Commercy (Meuse), Etupes (Doubs), Les Mureaux (Yvelines), Le Rheu (Ille-et-Vilaine), Pleurtuit (Ille-et-Vilaine) and Saint-Aubin-lès-Elbeuf (Seine-Maritime).

With a booming robotics industry, the acquisition will therefore enable the Industrie division of SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire to strengthen and complete its offerings, especially in two promising and strategic markets:

· Automotive industry: the industry is strongly investing to support the technological transformation driven by the Industry 4.0. The Industrie division, already present in the market, will benefit from the experience of Tenwhil, a Cimlec subsidiary specialising in the programming of industrial robot trajectory. The aim is to focus on the needs of the major automotive players to improve their production process.

· Manufacturing industry: Cimlec, with its subsidiary Commercy Robotique, has a strong position in the market through of its expertise in robotic integration. This additional service provides the Industrie division with additional assets to support its clients in optimising their processes.

Beyond the complementary client portfolios, the complementary expertise of the teams and the sharing of expertise will help to get new business opportunities. The integration of Cimlec also strengthens the Industrie division’s expertise in the field of automation, particularly in the French regions, Ile-de-France and Normandy.
