Cergy, 6 November 2025 – SPIE Nucléaire, a French subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, announces that it is bringing together its expertise in non-destructive testing under the name SPIE Horus. This represents a new milestone in integrating its subsidiaries ABC, ETC and SIRAC (GIE Horus), which were acquired on 24 July 2024. This integration will allow SPIE Nucléaire to expand its non-destructive testing (NDT) expertise and to strengthen its ability to provide support in complex projects.
A new milestone in integrating ABC, ETC and SIRAC (GIE Horus)
Increased industrial capacity for greater nuclear safety
SPIE Horus enables SPIE Nucléaire to strengthen its offering in the area of non-destructive testing. This highly specialised technical expertise constitutes a vital link in the nuclear safety chain as it makes it possible to guarantee the integrity of critical components (piping, welds, pressurised equipment etc.) by means of tests aimed at the early detection of any potential deterioration or failure. As this expertise covers a range of techniques (industrial radiography, magnetic particle inspection, ultrasound testing, dye penetrant testing, eddy currents, etc.), the method used can be adapted to the specific features of each installation.
Given the resurgence of nuclear power in France, this industrial capacity is of strategic importance, with regard to both optimising the service life of existing nuclear facilities and supporting the deployment of the EPR2 nuclear reactors of the future, which will require numerous quality tests.
Increased regional coverage thanks to three new sites
As a result of this integration, the SPIE Nucléaire teams are welcoming close to 250 highly skilled employees to the SPIE Horus subsidiary. SPIE Nucléaire is retaining the sites in Lens (Hauts-de-France), Champforgeuil (Bourgogne) and Maurepas (Ile-de-France). Thanks to this subsidiary, SPIE Nucléaire is able to reinforce its regional presence and offer enhanced professional expertise to its customers.
"We are proud to welcome the SPIE Horus employees to SPIE Nucléaire. Their highly specialised skills allow us to provide our customers with the expertise they need to extend the service life of existing nuclear facilities and facilitate the deployment of a new generation of reactors," states Arnaud Snykerque, Managing Director of SPIE Nucléaire
"SPIE Horus embodies our ambition to bring together complementary professions and expertise with high added value. This integration, which has been eagerly awaited by our respective teams, marks the starting point for a new ambition to make SPIE Horus the national benchmark in non-destructive testing (NDT)," explains Frédérique Weber, NDT Operations Director at SPIE Nucléaire.
