Cergy, 20th August 2026 – SPIE Global Services Energy, a subsidiary of SPIE, Europe’s leading independent provider of multi-disciplinary services in the energy and communications sectors, announces the completion of the acquisition of Worley Power Services. This transaction marks a new stage in the development of SPIE Global Services Energy in Australia and strengthens its position in the operation, maintenance and asset management of energy infrastructure. Now operating as SPIE Power Services, the business will continue to be led by Bobby Sagala, Managing Director, and will be integrated into SPIE Global Services Energy's newly established Australian Business Unit, led by Dean Paton, who was appointed Business Unit Director in February.
Now operating as SPIE Power Services, the entity will form part of SPIE Global Services Energy’s new Australian Business Unit, under the leadership of recently appointed Business Unit Director, Dean Paton
With over 20 years’ experience in managing energy generation assets, SPIE Power Services is a well-established player in the Australian market, with expertise covering the entire lifecycle of energy infrastructure. Over the past five years, the company has undergone a strategic shift towards low-carbon electricity generation assets, against a backdrop of constant changes to the energy mix and the accelerating phase-out of coal-fired power stations in Australia.
With more than 30 sites across Australia, SPIE Power Services employs around 300 people. Its teams are involved in the operation and maintenance of power stations, wind farms and gas infrastructure. The company currently operates 27 electricity generation assets representing over 5,800 MW, as well as more than 1,100 km of gas pipelines.
Dean Paton appointed Director of SPIE Global Services Energy’s new Australia Business Unit
To support this new phase of development, Dean Paton was appointed Director of SPIE Global Services Energy’s new Australian Business Unit in February 2026. He reports to Christophe Bernhart, Managing Director of SPIE Global Services Energy, and is a member of the subsidiary's Executive Committee.
Having been with the Group since 2013, after joining SPIE through the acquisition of the PLEXAL Group – where he served as Managing Director – Dean has made a significant contribution to the development of SPIE Global Services Energy’s activities in Australia. In this new role, his mission will be to consolidate and manage all Australian operations under a single Business Unit, bringing together the long-standing engineering and construction activities of SPIE Global Services Energy Australia with those of SPIE Power Services.
« The closing of the acquisition of SPIE Power Services marks a major milestone in the development of SPIE Global Services Energy in Australia. By combining our complementary areas of expertise, we are strengthening our ability to support our clients with their most strategic projects and to meet the growing challenges of the energy transition. I am proud to take the helm of this new business unit and to contribute to its long-term development», said Dean Paton, Director of the Australia Business Unit at SPIE Global Services Energy.
