SPIE continues partnership with EDF for turbine maintenance in areas not connected to the French mainland grid

Cergy, France, 22 June 2026 – SPIE Global Services Energy, a subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, announced that its specialist entity, SPIE Turbomachinery, has had its contract with EDF extended for the maintenance of combustion turbines used to generate electricity in Corsica and the French overseas territories. This one-year extension is part of a partnership that began in January 2023.

This contract covers certain EDF sites in non-interconnected areas, namely Corsica, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique and Réunion. In these regions, which are not connected to a mainland electricity grid, the reliability of facilities is a key factor in ensuring continuity of electricity supply.

In this context, SPIE Turbomachinery provides both scheduled maintenance and emergency response services for power-generation turbines.

In total, thirteen turbines are maintained by around fifteen employees across these five regions, representing approximately 375 MW of generation capacity and contributing to the energy supply of more than two million people.

SPIE Turbomachinery places particular emphasis on the safety and training of its teams, in line with Group requirements. To address the specific nature of its activities and the associated risks, the company has relaunched the third edition of its dedicated turbine training school, a unique initiative in France. The 2026 cohort will bring together around six apprentices for over 800 hours of both theoretical and practical training, delivered with the support of professional organisations and in-house experts.
