Cergy, 12 March 2026 – SPIE Global Services Energy, a subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, announces the appointment of François Nicot to the position of Director of the Sub-Saharan Africa Business Unit with effect from 1 December 2025. He reports to Christophe Bernhart, Managing Director of SPIE Global Services Energy, and is a member of the subsidiary's Executive Committee.
A graduate of the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Strasbourg (INSA), François Nicot boasts more than three decades of experience in managing complex international projects in the energy and construction sectors.
He began his career in 1989 with the Saipem Group (formerly Bouygues Offshore), where he spent more than 15 years in various operational management positions in France and abroad. He then held several international positions at Friedlander Ortec and within the SNEF Group, before taking on a project director role at SPAC. From 2005, François Nicot served as project director at Bouygues Construction.
With his in-depth knowledge of the African continent and recognised expertise in managing complex projects, François Nicot will bring his operational and managerial experience to the development of the SPIE Global Services Energy business in Sub-Saharan Africa (Angola, Mozambique, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Gabon and the Republic of the Congo, around 1200 employees), against a backdrop of growth and diversification of the activities carried out by the subsidiary.
"Sub-Saharan Africa has been gaining some serious momentum lately thanks to its booming renewable energy sector, the ability to expand into fast-growing countries and the development of the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) model in the oil and gas market. These new challenges are completely redefining our customers' expectations. With this in mind, our priority will be to further enhance our service level to meet all future O&M needs in a more sophisticated and integrated manner that combines operational performance with the transition to low-carbon solutions." states François Nicot, Director of the Sub-Saharan Africa Business Unit.
