SPIE leads Innovation in energy consumption and adds an “Energy Management” package to its service offers

Saint-Denis, 2 July 2020 – The Tertiaire division of SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire, a subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, announces the launch of its “Energy Management” package, a customised solution that gives customers from the service sector perfect control over their energy consumption.

A major challenge for the service sector.

Developed by the Tertiaire division in partnership with two start-ups from Toulouse, UbiGreen and Cenareo, both members of IoT Valley, this new package perfectly meets the needs of the French “Service-sector Decree”, which provides for the installation of IT platforms to track and monitor energy consumption for managers of buildings of over 1000 m². The stated objective of the decree is to work towards a progressive reduction in energy consumption of 60% by 2050.

The UbiGreen solution, now integrated by SPIE, links an IT platform with sensors at the main energy and fluid metering points in the building. With secure access via a web browser, this platform allows users to accurately monitor several parameters, including:

  • optimisation of power allowance purchased from suppliers;
  • alerts for abnormal consumption or cases where the power allowance is exceeded;
  • automatic control of energy bills to detect potential invoicing errors;
  • analysis and optimisation of recommended temperatures and operating hours of HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) systems

“Our system is a real tracker of abnormal consumption in terms of building usage and external data (heating working at the weekend, lights on in the middle of the day, water leaks, etc.),” explains Pierre-Olivier Bessol, Managing Director and Co-Founder of UbiGreen. “For the customers of the Tertiaire division of SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire, the return on investment of an installation such as this one is almost immediate.”

Dynamic display to raise user awareness

Cenareo, SPIE’s other partner in this venture, designed the dynamic display system that makes the energy consumption data visible and understandable. It is a question of educating everyone about an approach for improving energy performance by communicating consumption and key indicators for the building via the displays in real time. “UbiGreen and Cenareo have enabled us to translate the data into indicators that are easy for users to understand,” explains Frédéric Laporte-Fauret, Development Director for the French South-West region in the Tertiaire division of SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire. “Simply raising users’ awareness of their energy consumption enables them to reduce this by 15% in just a few months.”

A customised service offer

This fully customisable “Energy Management” package requires no technological shutdowns during installation. It is fully adaptable and adjustable to each and every environment and connects to the technical management systems present in buildings. The platform does require a specific subscription which is offered free of charge for the first year.
