SPIE provides technical facility management for truck assembly plant and new truck logistics centre in Germany

Wörth am Rhein/Halberstadt, Germany, 10 April 2025 – SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, remains responsible for maintaining the technical building systems at Daimler Truck’s truck assembly plant in Wörth am Rhein. The focus is on a high level of system availability and rapid response times in the event of faults. The same applies to the commercial vehicle manufacturer’s newly built truck logistics centre in Halberstadt, where SPIE will be in charge of technical facility management going forward.

At the truck assembly plant in Wörth am Rhein, SPIE is responsible for operating the building technology in the manufacturing and administration buildings, maintaining the process exhaust air systems in the production areas and a 24-hour on-call service. Moreover, the multi-technical service provider supplies the plant with production media such as compressed air and cooling and also continuously monitors energy consumption, thus helping to maximise the plant’s energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.

Our proximity to the production process entails considerable responsibility and requires standardised digital solutions as well as a high level of in-house performance,” says Jürgen Schmid, Branch Manager Automotive Stuttgart of the Efficient Facilities operational division of SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria. “Among other things, we use software robots for fault analysis, which automatically transfer data from the customer’s system to our own. On this basis, we then develop customised maintenance strategies to prevent faults in advance or to rectify them even more swiftly. Our in-house performance level of 85 per cent enables us to ensure a high degree of system availability at all times.”

SPIE has also been given the responsibility for technical facility management at the new truck logistics centre in Halberstadt and ensures the smooth operation of doors and gates, for example. “This is how we contribute to smoothly running logistics operations at all times,” says Jörg Kolonko, Head of the Central Germany branch of SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria’s Efficient Facilities operational division.

SPIE has been working for Daimler Truck for many years. “The extension and expansion of our cooperation confirms the customer’s trust in our high degree of expertise and reliability,” adds Stefan Schusterschitz, General Manager of the Efficient Facilities operational division at SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria.
