Ratingen, 24 August 2023 – SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, is providing a comprehensive range of technical facility management and technical industrial services for an international manufacturer of mechanical gear and drive systems in Germany.
Industrial services for the production of gear systems
On behalf of the international gear systems manufacturer, SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa is providing a range of technical industrial services in premises covering a total net usable area of around 200,000 square metres at three factory locations, in Germany. A SPIE team now comprising thirty people from the Efficient Facilities operational division is responsible for maintaining the customer’s production facilities and conducting electrical and mechanical tests regarding e.g. product safety and further expert tests. “Our services help to ensure high plant availability and, in turn, smooth production operations,” says Dirk Lorenz, branch manager in SPIE’s Efficient Facilities operational division.
Innovation, flexibility, and digitalisation
The locations supported by SPIE produce mainly gear systems for large equipment. Correspondingly extensive and complex are the production facilities themselves – and the associated technical services: “The challenge for us lies in the precisely timed cooperation and coordination with the customer to ensure precisely scheduled, across-the-board production at high cycle rates,” says Dirk Lorenz. “Our team is made up of specialists who need to be extremely innovative and highly flexible. We are constantly finding new solutions designed to ensure that the production processes always run smoothly, even under exceptional circumstances,” says SPIE project manager Markus Franzen. SPIE’s technical facility management services also include maintaining, inspecting and repairing the interior ventilation systems and air conditioning, door, sprinkler, electrical, heating and plumbing systems, as well as the instrumentation and control technology in the buildings.
To make technical operational management easier, SPIE has developed a digital inquiry and quotation system so that all dealings with the customer right through to the accounting stage are completely paper-free. “This digital solution helps us to optimise the operational and organisational processes in terms of both speed and the quality of processes,” says Dirk Lorenz.
