Frankfurt, Germany, 2 December 2025 – SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, will continue to manage the technical and infrastructural facility services at the International Business Campus (IBC) in Frankfurt for an additional three and a half years. The scope of services includes the operation and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and sanitation systems, as well as electrical engineering and security technology across 84,000 square metres. The multi-technical service provider also operates the building control centre, provides technical consulting, coordinates infrastructure services and supports the ongoing modernisation of building technology to further enhance energy efficiency and sustainability.
The IBC is a distinctive feature of the Frankfurt skyline and is recognised for modern technology and sustainable building management. It holds the WiredScore Platinum and LEED Platinum certifications, both of which reflect its digital capability and resource-efficient operation. SPIE supports the LEED certification process through data collection, monitoring and the technical implementation of the required measures.
“We have taken specific actions to gradually reduce energy consumption. This includes replacing around 580 luminaires with LED lighting and upgrading heating and cooling systems with more efficient units,” explains Heike Wandsleb, project team leader at the IBC in SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria’s Efficient Facilities operational division. As an ESG[1] solutions partner, SPIE is currently implementing additional measures to boost energy efficiency, including hydraulic optimisation and adjustments to the chilled water network to further reduce energy consumption.
