Ratingen, Germany, 20 November 2024– SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, is erecting over 300 fast-charging points for electric vehicles across 30 locations in Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Hamburg and North Rhine-Westphalia on behalf of the EWE Go HOCHTIEF Charging Partner Construction Consortium. These installations are part of the Deutschlandnetz, an initiative by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, which aims to provide a nationwide, demand-driven charging infrastructure with approximately 9,000 fast-charging points by 2026.
SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria is setting up these fast-charging points in both urban and rural areas, making a pivotal contribution to the Deutschlandnetz. The project involves the meticulous planning and coordination of electrical installation and civil engineering work, along with the safe commissioning of over 300 charging points. “This project is more than just a contract for us – it’s a major step toward a sustainable future. We are contributing with the highest level of precision to make electromobility accessible for everyone,” says Pascal Vermaten, Head of Key Account Management for the Energy and Mobility Solutions business unit within SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria’s City Networks & Grids operational division.
According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority in Flensburg, the number of registered electric vehicles in Germany grew by more than 39 percent in 2023, with the trend expected to continue in the coming years. “We are leveraging our expertise to actively advance the energy and mobility transition in Germany,” says Peter Pfannenstiel, Head of the City Networks & Grids operational division at SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria. “We are meeting the demands of electromobility and energy supply with future-proof solutions that meet the highest technical standards, including our expertise in planning and building large-scale battery energy storage systems and truck charging solutions.”
Since 2018 alone, SPIE has installed around 3,000 fast-charging points across Germany for various charge point operators, playing a crucial role in expanding the country’s charging infrastructure.
