Saint-Denis, 25 November 2021 – The Tertiaire division of SPIE Industrie & Tertiaire and SPIE Facilities, French subsidiaries of the SPIE group, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, have been awarded the contract for the renovation of the municipal offices in Albi. A contract marked by efficiency and energy performance with the Tertiaire division teams responsible for overall project management.

An achievement that embodies SPIE’s knowledge

The two SPIE France divisions combined their teams and expertise to meet the needs of the municipal offices in Albi. SPIE’s Tertiaire division is the principal and chosen contractor for the project. Stated objectives: to guarantee the best energy performance for the buildings and make substantial savings, while ensuring quality of life and working comfort for the 300 staff and increasing capacity by 150 additional workstations.

This contract will involve the teams from the Tertiaire division for the energy renovation of three buildings with a total area of 7,700 m2. This work will, in particular, involve outdoor thermal insulation, heating system modernisation, installation of photovoltaic solutions, installation of windows, replacement of air exchange systems and lighting work. From January 2023 to 2028, the SPIE Facilities teams will be tasked with operating and maintaining the municipal offices in Albi.

“This project is significant for SPIE, as we are looking to continue our involvement in the green economy by working on technical facilities and the building envelope. Now more than ever, our role is to modernise buildings to make them efficient and smart, and improve quality of life for their occupants,” explains Matthieu Boutonnet, Department Head within SPIE’s Tertiaire division.

An ambitious target: to reduce the buildings’ energy consumption by 56%

This renovation is part of the state’s efforts to set an example in the ecological transition by reducing fossil fuel consumption and improving building energy performance. This project aims to achieve a final reduction of primary energy consumption of 56%. It will enable us to modernise the existing structures and systems by choosing materials that are environmentally friendly and layouts that improve the quality of life of the staff who work there.

The SPIE teams are composed of people from the Albi region, who have a thorough understanding of the challenges and demands of the area. “In addition to the synergies achieved by bringing together our two subsidiaries, our local teams, which are based in Albi and engaged in the life of their region, have a thorough knowledge of the site. They have shown a collective capacity for engineering and a close connection to the area, which convinced the Prefecture,” says Pascal Lopez, Operations Director within the Sud-Ouest Operational Division at SPIE Facilities.

This project highlights SPIE’s commitment to being part of the solution and tackling the challenges of the energy transition.
