Düsseldorf, 7 October 2025SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, is maintaining record levels of vocational training again in 2025: 504 young people are starting an apprenticeship or a dual study programme with SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria this year – more than ever before. Spread across approximately 100 locations, they are entering a total of 40 industrial-technical and commercial apprenticeships, which are complemented by ten dual bachelor’s degree courses.

Across all year groups, SPIE is currently training a total of 1,300 tech-savvy young people, working across eight divisions and the head office in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The training programmes focus on plant mechanics, energy and building technology, electronics, industrial mechanics, pipeline construction and metalworking. The dual bachelor’s degree courses include business administration, electrical engineering and technical facility management. “This new record demonstrates how attractive SPIE and our training programmes continue to be. That’s more important than ever, given the growing demand for technical expertise we expect to see in the years ahead,” explains Antje Wiedemuth, Head of People & Culture and member of the SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria management board. “We provide our apprentices with a wide range of development opportunities. More importantly, we also offer them meaningful work that enables them to make a real contribution to a climate-friendly, digital future.”

As a multi-technical service provider, SPIE is actively contributing to shape the future of energy and digitalisation through its comprehensive range of services. The company is committed to driving sustainable transformation across buildings, systems and infrastructure – developing and implementing resource-saving technical solutions tailored to individual customer needs and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy.

SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria currently employs over 20,000 people. Around 3,000 new skilled professionals were hired in 2024 alone – over a quarter of whom were recruited through the company’s internal referral programme, “Good People Know Good People”. Internal development also plays a key role: Nearly 70 per cent of leadership positions are filled from within the organisation.

Our strategy, business model and corporate culture appeal to both young talents and experienced professionals alike. This is reflected in the high number of employee referrals and the consistently low voluntary turnover rate, which fell to about six per cent in 2024. Our employees also benefit from working in a future-proof industry, actively contributing to shape the energy transition and digital transformation,” emphasises Markus Holzke, Managing Director/CEO of SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria.
