Berlin, March 25, 2020 – The Institute for Federal Real Estate (BImA) in Berlin is continuing the successful cooperation with SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa. Within the framework of a new bid invitation SPIE is taking charge of technical facility management for five years—with an extension option for a further five years in the German Federal Foreign Office. SPIE was already responsible for technical facility management of the federal institute during the past 15 years, and hence possesses high expertise and a broad range of experience.
Technical facility management
The building complex contains usable space of approximately 186,000 square meters, where around 3,000 persons work in the Berlin federal authority. The SPIE team, with a total of twelve members, is responsible for technical facility management for almost all technical installations in the property. These include, for instance, maintenance, inspection and repair of the air conditioning systems, the refrigeration, elevator, door, sprinkler, emergency power system, electrical, heating and sanitary installations as well as the metering, control and regulation engineering in the buildings. Furthermore, the multi-technical service provider is also responsible for the trouble-free operation of the building management system. With a round-the-clock on-call service 365 days a year, SPIE guarantees a rapid response in the event of possible disturbances and ensures reliable building operation.
“Our biggest challenge is to provide an all-round carefree package for our clients. On the one hand, we want to reliably implement the works of daily business, such as maintenance, inspections and troubleshooting and, on the other hand, to also quickly and efficiently fulfil the individual requirements of building users”, explained Karsten Prietz, property manager at SPIE. “And it is precisely this mixture of reliability and service-orientation which our clients appreciate so much. Through the team’s great commitment and our constantly solution-oriented work, we were once again able to convince our clients of our abilities—and we are proud of this.”
Since 2005, the multi-technical provider’s team has already been supporting the federal authority in the German capital; they are delighted that the renewed contract award confirms trust in SPIE. “We don’t just regard ourselves as our clients’ service provider but also as a competent solution partner—with the focus on customized performances from one source, always tailored to specific client requirements”, noted Sebastian Hölzel, who in his capacity as branch manager for Berlin-Brandenburg is responsible for the business sector Efficient Facilities at SPIE. “For us it is particularly important to reliably support our clients in the coming five years in planning and modernizing technical building installations and to offer them economically optimal solutions.”
Since 1999 the official residence of the German Federal Foreign Office has been in Haus am Werderschen Markt. SPIE is not only responsible for the trouble-free operation of the generally refurbished old building, which was originally built as an extension building of the Reichsbank, but also for the new construction.
