To help the Clay School in Berlin, Germany, achieve a silver quality classification in the Sustainable Building for Federal Buildings rating system, SPIE is supplying and installing a high-voltage system that will power the heating, air-conditioning and sanitary facilities, the fire and intruder alarm system, lifts, data systems and the electrical equipment used during lessons.
SPIE also installed LED lights managed by a smart lighting system that automatically adjusts to daylight conditions and the presence of people, saving the school around 20% on its lighting costs. Once all installations have been completed in 2023, SPIE will also provide maintenance services. This state-of-the-art school infrastructure is intended to serve as a model for future schools in Berlin.
