In Belgium, SPIE is part of ENGIE’s unique wind energy development pilot project to further accelerate the sustainability of electric mobility. SPIE has combined its e-mobility and renewable energy production expertise to connect electric vehicle charging stations to renewable wind energy sources, thus facilitating a cleaner source of energy for Belgian e-mobility.

SPIE connected three new wind turbines to the grid, powering rapid charging stations that enable users to refuel their vehicles with wind energy in 10 to 20 minutes. SPIE’s teams also installed two 175kW charging stations, directly connecting them to the new wind turbines and thus bypassing the need for a transmission network. These installations represent the client’s first windpowered charging station.
