SPIE is going to convert 1,500 of them to LED technology, a modernisation of the lighting network that will save the client around €1.5 million and will contribute to climate protection through increased energy efficiency. CO2 emissions will be reduced by around 2,600 tonnes over the lifetime of the contract. This contract covers operational management and around-the-clock maintenance, facilitated by SPIE’s online platform through which city workers and citizens can report faults for quick repair, the Lux Data management information system. The people of Wülfrath aren’t the only ones who benefit from the streetlight upgrades: the new LED technology is less harmful to local insect populations.
