As the manufacturer of wind turbines for a new offshore wind farm in northern France, Haizea Breizh, a subsidiary of the Spain-based Haizea Wind Group, required a trusted local partner. The first manufacturing stage is taking place in Bilbao, Spain, before shipment to the polder site in Brest, France. SPIE brought its national network, local foothold and extensive offshore wind expertise to the project, mounting the internal parts for each of the farm’s 62 wind turbine towers. In addition to handling the mechanical and electrical assembly work, SPIE is managing the polder site, coordinating all the logistics and ensuring that the completed turbine towers are dispatched to their next site in France. With a total capacity of 496 MW, the Saint-Brieuc wind farm will be able to produce enough clean energy to meet the demands of 835,000 customers.
