Reelframe device: an innovative approach to streamline transmission line mounting.
Protecting crossings during transmission line mounting is a critical but challenging operation. The process is typically time-consuming and labour-intensive, often requiring additional subcontractors to ensure safe and compliant installation.
These operational constraints translate into higher costs and extended project timelines, creating a need for a more efficient approach.

To address these challenges, SPIE Germany Switzerland Austria developed the reel frame system, an innovative solution designed to reduce the time required to install and change reels for each wire. This optimised approach directly lowers costs and shortens installation times while maintaining safety and quality standards.
The entire development process, from initial concept and design through to construction of the first prototype, was carried out entirely in-house by SPIE teams. This integrated approach enabled rapid iteration and ensured the solution was tailored to the specific operational requirements of transmission line projects.
Field test results are currently being evaluated, while the manufacturer implements final product improvements based on real-world performance data. Once approved by SPIE's main customer, this solution will be rolled out as a standard across transmission line projects, demonstrating the scalability and replicability of this innovation.
