Saint-Lazare Station gets a make-over
The renovation plan for Gare Saint-Lazare, Paris's oldest railway station, is continuing with a major improvement project dubbed "Cur de Gare" (Station Heart). As part of this project, the Commercial Sector Electrical Contracting Department of SPIE Ile-de-France Nord-Ouest is carrying out HV and LV electrical installation work worth 6.5 million for Spie SCGPM. The work to be done includes installing equipment for a shopping arcade comprising 93 shops and restaurants on three levels and the provision of two underground parking levels (total area of 36,000 sq. m.). Having started in January this year, the work will be carried out in three phases ending in September 2011, when the completely revamped station will be much better equipped to meet the needs of the 120 million travellers who use it every year.
