Paris, 9 May 2011 - SPIE and Ense3 engineering school at Grenoble INP (institute of technology) have signed a three-year partnership with the aim of promoting SPIE among engineering students and injecting an operational dimension into training programmes at Ense3 which was formed by a merger between the ENSIEG and ENSHMG schools.
Harnessing school-business collaborationSPIE and Ense3 are joining forces to develop the co-operation they initiated two years ago. The new agreement aims to adapt the teaching courses provided at Ense3 to on-going changes in all energy-related sectors and to heighten students' awareness of the SPIE Group.
The area concerned are: teaching (through conferences and special events, etc.) and the pedagogical approach at Ense3 (by introducing new course contents, assisting with the creation of new courses and new options, and setting up an apprenticeship-type engineer training project, etc.). Student engineers will also have the chance to become acquainted with SPIE throughout their training (new school year seminar, site visits, annual trades forum, etc.).
Preparing for the future by bringing in new talentsThe SPIE Group plans to hire nearly 2,000 new personnel in 2011 including more than 500 engineers. The new partnership will highlight career opportunities (internships, job offers, overseas work schemes, etc.) offered by SPIE to bring them to the attention of third-year students and recent engineering graduates who have skills matching the Group's key business fields including, in particular, energy-related sectors. This partnership is also in line with the diversity strategy adopted in 2008 by the SPIE Group (which also drew up its own Diversity Charter) with the aim of optimising the integration of workers with disabilities and improving the promotion of its professions (which are often seen as being essentially male-oriented) among female students. "Although we have already had close relations with Ense3 for years, this partnership agreement brings us more to the attention of students at this renowned engineering school," explains Steve Chardon, Group Ambassador * to the Grenoble INP institute of technology. "Following the agreements signed with the engineering schools of INSA in Lyon in January and Polytech Marseille in September 2010, this new partnership represents an important new phase in our policy of fostering school-business relations and recruiting people with top skills in a context of constant strong competition to attract talents of the future," points out Thierry Baussart, CEO at SPIE Sud-Est. * Ambassador
A network of ambassadors was set up within the SPIE Group to promote the development of the Group's school relations policy. These ambassadors, who include operational and support personnel, generally return to schools they attended for forums or for specially organised meetings. In particular, they describe their own professional fields, play a part in training courses, organise site visits, explain the opportunities for career development at SPIE and help set up partnerships and special events.
