Cergy, 19 November 2013 – Fabio Di Mario, SPIE's Director of Human Resources Development and Pascal Brochet, Director of the UTBM (University of Technology of Belfort-Montbéliard) have just signed a partnership agreement.
Through this partnership, SPIE is strengthening its links with one of the most important engineering schools of the east of France in the electrical and mechanical engineering fields. Its key measure: privileged access to the UTBM's engineering students enabling the Group to promote its career opportunities and to find its future employees from among the students. For the UTBM, the partnership is an additional opportunity for its students to become more aware of industry and to promote their graduates' entry into the world of work by enhancing the value of the training it provides.
The cooperation between SPIE and the UTBM will focus in particular on the following themes: educational activities, support for the students' vocational projects, the recruitment of interns and engineers, support for the school's associations, training within companies and the apprenticeship tax. Among the initiatives that will be implemented, the organisation of thematic conferences, visits to industrial sites for the engineering students and breakfasts for raising awareness of gender diversity in the company are of note. Particular attention will also be given to the students' successful entry into the world of work in particular through recruitment simulation workshops, job search techniques and behavioural communication. Lastly, the UTBM will support SPIE in training its staff from technician to engineer levels.
"The SPIE group chooses its partnerships with care. The UTBM corresponds exactly with what we are seeking: local proximity with our sites, synergy with our technical trades and in particular the "Energy and Environment" and "Mechanical Engineering and Design" and "Entrepreneurial Spirit," sectors, said Fabio Di Mario, SPIE's Director of Human Resources Development.
"Our subsidiary is starting to develop a dense network of relationships with those students who may be interested in a career at SPIE", said Jean-Yves Vienot, Director of SPIE Est's Franche-Comté agency and ambassador of the Group for the UTBM. "We hope very quickly to find its engineering students working at our sites."
"This agreement formalises a collaboration initiated several years ago between SPIE and the UTBM with a view to making it permanent", said Pascal Brochet, Director of the UTBM. "It is also part of our policy of openness towards companies and in favour of strengthening their presence within the university. It is a real mutual give and take relationship which will benefit SPIE as it will the students in many fields."
