- The joint venture TankE GmbH will provide a full-service offer in the field of charging infrastructure for e-mobility throughout Germany
- The offer is aimed both at direct customers in the B2B sector, such as companies and retailers stores, and at network partners such as municipalities and public utilities
- The aim is to become a leading provider of e-mobility solutions across Germany and, together with municipal and commercial partners, to penetrate the market more effectively, thus building up a nationwide TankE charging station network
Ratingen / Cologne, 24 June 2019 – SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa, a subsidiary of the SPIE group, and RheinEnergie establish a new joint venture named TankE GmbH. With a single point of contact available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this new entity will offer electric mobility services in Germany. This includes, in particular, planning and consulting services, installation, management and service for future operators of charging station infrastructure. TankE GmbH also enables network partners such as municipalities and public utilities to sell the entire TankE product and service portfolio under their own name.
Two strong partners
SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications with a nationwide presence in Germany, has already established 5,000 charging points for electric vehicles in recent years. The multi-technical service provider brings to the joint venture its high competence and experience in planning and installation as well as the subsequent management and maintenance of the charging infrastructure while offering rapid fault rectification.
As an energy service provider and water supplier for Cologne and the Rhineland region, RheinEnergie has over 140 years of experience in building and operating energy infrastructure. The company also develops and markets via its subsidiary, ChargeCloud, a flexible IT backend system that can be used to network, operate, monitor and analyse charging infrastructure. The energy service provider is also contributing the existing “TankE” brand to the joint venture. Within the TankE network, some twenty German public services have joined forces under the same name to offer more charging options at reasonable prices to electric car drivers in the network. The network already includes more than 600 publicly accessible charging points today.
Tailor-made solutions nationwide
The constant growth in the number of electric vehicles leads to new challenges for local authorities and companies. E-car users expect charging solutions that are tailored to them and reliable. The aim of TankE GmbH is to become a nationwide leading provider of e-mobility solutions and to help the TankE charging network achieve greater market penetration. “Together with RheinEnergie, we can provide customers with a nationwide network of TankE charging points with uniform charging and billing options. Companies with locations all over Germany, in particular, benefit from the professional and tailor-made all-round package,” says Rüdiger Graf, Head of Business Development and Sales at SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa. “If a malfunction occurs nevertheless, SPIE will take over the troubleshooting around the clock throughout Germany.”
Additional added value
Axel Lauterborn, future Managing Director of TankE GmbH, explains: “Commercial and industrial customers who also make their TankE charging points publicly accessible benefit from increased use and thus increased profitability.” TankE GmbH also enables network partners such as municipalities and public utilities to sell the TankE product and service portfolio under their own brand in their city or network area. “With our support, our network partners secure their position in a market, which changes dynamically and offers interesting growth opportunities,” says Lauterborn.
