SPIE Est and SPIE Sud-Est combine their know-how for renovation of the Maurice Lemaire Tunnel
The Autoroutes Paris-Rhin-Rhône company has awarded the contract to SPIE Est (the contract agent) / SPIE Sud-Est for low voltage electrical installations of the Maurice Lemaire Tunnel as part of its renovation. The 6,950 m long Maurice Lemaire Tunnel between the Vosges Mountains and Alsace is the longest road tunnel in France. After being closed to traffic in April 2004, safety compliance work was carried out in accordance with the "Mont Blanc" directive. As part of this work, in 2004, SPIE Est removed hundreds of items of electrical equipment. An emergency gallery has now been excavated along the tunnel, and the installation of equipment can now start. The contract for the low voltage electrical installations lot obtained by our grouping represents a total amount of 8.7 million euros. Work will start in June 2007 and is planned to be completed in June 2008 This work will be carried out jointly by the Bourgogne, Franche-Comté and Alsace regional offices of SPIE Est, and by the Transport & Information Systems operational department of SPIE Sud-Est. The work consists mainly of the following:
  • centralised technical management and supervision,
  • the emergency call network,
  • the telephone/sound network,
  • the automatic video analysis incident detection system,
  • the CCTV (closed circuit TV) surveillance system, installation of the screen-wall in the central supervision station,
  • the optic fibre cable fire detection system in the tunnel and the emergency gallery,
  • the optic fibre cable fire detection system in the areas within the tunnel (branches and substations),
  • electrical fire-fighting equipment (pumping systems and pipes).
Faced with our main competitors, our grouping obtained this contract by combining the expertise of SPIE Est and SPIE Sud-Est. While SPIE Est had the advantages of being nearby and of knowing the client, APRR, SPIE Sud-Est provided its expertise in transport and information systems. Contact
