SPIE, first CISCO’s IoT certified partner in Switzerland

Emmenbrücke, Switzerland, December 21st, 2016 – SPIE ICS SA is the first Swiss partner of Cisco to obtain the "Internet of Things" (IoT) certification. The company strengthens and reinforces its strategic direction in the fields of digitization and Smart city.

SPIE ICS SA, the digital services subsidiary of the SPIE group, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, provides complete solutions, in particular in the fields of connectivity, telecommunications, security, managed services, workplace management as well as Data Center, Cloud and Smart city services.

SPIE ICS SA is a long-standing partner of Cisco and has just been awarded the "Cisco IoT" certification. In order to cope with the increasing complexity of markets, in particular in the sectors of the Smart city and e-fficient buildings, SPIE ICS SA trains continuously its experts. "This is the prerequisite for delivering a high quality service in a sector where borders between information, communication and digitization constantly fade" explains Michael Brügger, Cisco Product & Partner Manager of SPIE ICS SA.

"For Cisco, fields like digitization, IoT and Smart city are closely linked. The certification confirms that SPIE ICS SA strategically aims at developing its expertise in each of these fields by positioning itself as a leader", says Andreas Moser, Head of Digitization at Cisco Systems Switzerland. SPIE ICS SA has in this way the expertise required by Cisco System Inc. and strengthens its leadership role in the implementation of applications of the "Internet of Things". This new certification complements the certifications already obtained this year, "Public Service Provider Partner of the Year 2016" and "Capital Partner of the Year 2016", which make SPIE ICS SA a long-term partner of Cisco.

The SPIE Group, through its digital services subsidiary, has also established a teaching and research chair in the "Internet of things" (IoT) in partnership with the engineering school INSA Lyon. This chair will encourage the development of exchanges and teaching concerning the technological and societal changes induced by the Internet of things. It will also allow to detect and bring young talents together and to identify the fields in which technologies will be able to bring an innovative solution in particular in terms of use. SPIE ICS SA, as the member of the "CityZen" association, is fully committed in Switzerland to the field of the Smart city. The company which implements various technologies in Switzerland for the "city of the future" supports the first Smart Suisse conference which will be held in Basel in spring 2017.
