SPIE Group acquires Heijmans Industrial Services and strengthens its position in the Netherlands
SPIE announces the acquisition of Heijmans Industrial Services by its SPIE Nederland subsidiary. SPIE has taken over Heijmans Industrial Services (HIS), a subsidiary of Dutch construction group Heijmans, specialising in maintenance and mechanical engineering for the industrial sector. HIS's business fields include the design, development, renovation, modification and maintenance of mechanical installations. Recognised for its ability to implement cutting-edge skills offering high added value, HIS provides services for its customers in the petrochemical, chemical and steel industries, notably including Shell and Corus. Based in Hoogvliet, HIS employs 335 people on three sites near the ports of Rotterdam, Ijmuiden and Moerdijk. It achieved sales of €70 million in 2007. This acquisition reflects SPIE's growth strategy in Europe. Patrick Waterkeyn, Managing Director of SPIE Benelux, explains: "Following SPIE Nederland's takeover of Controlec in early 2007, this acquisition completes our range of mechanical engineering services for our industrial customers and puts us among the top five multitechnical service companies in the Netherlands."
