Breda, 13 May 2016 – The Martini Hospital in Groningen has entered into an intensive collaboration with SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, for the installation and servicing of luxurious touch screens for over 500 hospital beds.
The ultra-modern screens enable patients to surf the Internet, watch TV, listen to the radio, play games, order meals and use Skype with the home front. The arrival of these screens has at the same time enhanced the provision of information aimed at the recovery process of patients.
“This smart care solution offers patients modern, low-threshold facilities and reduces the workload for medical and nursing staff. In this way, smart care media contribute to quality and efficiency” said Han-Michiel Verroen, Business Development Director of the SPIE Nederland Healthcare department. This department offers hospitals and other care institutions overall concepts for communication, entertainment and information provision.
The Martini Hospital intends to use the Care Media system to promote information provision to its patients, thereby speeding up their recovery process. Harm Wesseling, Managing Director ICT & Medical Technology comments: “We want to share information about the care process with the patient via this solution in addition to contributing to their well-being.” For example, the medical team can have access through the screen to information on the patient’s agenda and appointments; specific information about the disorder, recovery and after-care is immediately available. Everything is aimed at making life easy for the patient, who is the focal point.
